Do all students have to pay for the testing/diagnosis for their conditions? Or are there UO subsidies for students who suspect they have a condition needing support, but have yet to be able to afford having that confirmed officially? I often have students report feeling like they might qualify for such support, but express reluctance to seek that support due to fearing the healthcare costs for themselves or their parents. I refer students to AEC, but I do not always hear from them about what happens from there.
Robin Clement
56:18
My question also Kristy
Jenna Travers (she/they)
57:49
As someone who has worked with the AEC, I had to secure my own diagnosis and am still working on doing that since it would cost $2000 out of pocket
Gina Biancarosa
58:02
OUCH
Jenna Travers (she/they)
58:17
Many students cannot afford it and the AEC does not provide any help, at least in my case and from talking with other students
Brad Garner (he/him)
01:00:39
Can we end screen share?
N Phillips
01:00:50
Some AEC email comes from an off campus location, making it look like phishing or some other form of fraud.

Matthew Norton
01:22:46
With reference to Spike’s question, the staff at the AEC have in my experience been wonderful in helping to think creatively, rigorously, and humanely about accommodations as they relate to specific classes or assignments. You don’t need to be an expert in this stuff — they have experts at the AEC who (again in my experience) are ready to help come up with solutions that integrate student needs and the rigor of the class.

Does that mean a student would have to prove their anxiety by showing their medical records or prescriptions for anxiety?

TAEC offers this workshop: Test PreparationTaming Test AnxietyDid your palms start sweating just by reading this title? Learn how to manage stress levels, prepare well for exams, and make tests just another thing in your term—not the only thing.

Kristy will be reading Kara's statement. Kara Clevinger is the English Department Assistant Director (our department has roughly 100 faculty with 50 being Career track), and she facilitates the promotion cases and supports our teaching evaluations.

I found these reports really well designed when reviewing files for the departmental personnel committee. Huge improvement over the old ones, and, more important, they made quite a lot of data from the new ones very accessible and usefully synthesized. Thanks to the team who developed them.
