8-10 percent since Jan 2020.
Bill Harbaugh
35:32
Temporary inflation is a permanent increase in the cost of living.
Benjamin Hansen
35:47
Temporary inflation doesn't mean that we'll see deflation (prices going back down).
Joshua Razink
36:07
Good points Ben and Bill.
Jenna Travers (she/they)
39:16
Sorry Spike! I’ll be quick
Gina Biancarosa
39:27
Agreed with Ben and Bill
Spike Gildea
39:47
@Jenna — no worries
Kristy (she,her,hers) Bryant-Berg
42:06
Good question. Thanks Jenna!
Stephanie Prentiss she/her SEIU Pres. 085 Higher Ed. BOD
42:30
Yes, thank you Jenna!

Emily, looking at this: “Except as expressly provided below, University researchers may not conduct proprietaryresearch where the freedom to publish the results of that research is limited, and the Universityof Oregon shall not accept any limitation on the freedom to publish research results from anyresearch sponsor, including, but not limited to, restrictions that convey veto or censorshipauthority.” I’m wondering if there’s a way of saying explicitly that this does not affect researchers when they are working as 1 day in 7 consultants.
Jack Boss
58:23
Thank you all; need to leave early to set up for teaching.
Gina Biancarosa
01:00:49
Do folks want a copy of Emily's slides?
Harinder Khalsa
01:00:52
Thank you, everyone. I also need to leave early today.
N Phillips
01:01:15
I want a pdf file of the slides. Thanks.
Emily Tanner-Smith
01:01:24
That's a great idea, Gina - I'll provide my slides to Betina for distribution
Gina Biancarosa
01:01:31
Thanks, Emily
Robin Clement
01:01:38
Thanks Emily
Nico Larco
01:02:09
Thank you for all of your leadership in this Emily. Much appreciated.
Anthony Hornof
01:07:40
The ABA program sounds good to me!
Gina Biancarosa
01:15:26
What does the program cost?
Anthony Hornof
01:17:48
I move to approve
Gina Biancarosa
01:17:51
It looks like the cost per term this year would have been $7,484.00 per term + fees etc.
Gabriele Hayden
01:18:17
Thank you Gina
Jenna Travers (she/they)
01:18:50
I agree Senator Norton
Wendy Machalicek (she/her)
01:18:56
Thanks, Gina.

Robin Clement
01:21:11
Any on-line course fees?
Gina Biancarosa
01:21:15
Since it's online, it does require relocation
Gabriele Hayden
01:21:26
Thanks every one for taking the time to calculate student cost.
Gina Biancarosa
01:21:41
Not sure, Robin. I'll try to look up
Eleanor Vandegrift
01:22:04
Did I hear Wendy say 7 terms instead of 6?
Wendy Machalicek (she/her)
01:22:05
One consideration is that an asynchronous online approach allows for multiple faculty to contribute to content
Carol Gering
01:22:05
@Robin, no additional online course fees and I believe the mandatory fees are half of those for on-campus programs.
Gina Biancarosa
01:22:39
Thanks, Carol, then fees would likely make the total per term just under 8k
Robin Clement
01:22:42
Carol, Yes I think that is right regarding mandatory fees, Thanks Robin
Robin Clement
01:24:34
Can the Board approval wait until after we have more time to discuss this? Is there a rush such as not being able to recruit until this goes through the full approval process?
Eleanor Vandegrift
01:25:08
^^yes Robin’s question
Spike Gildea
01:26:10
My understanding is that the start of the program will be delayed another year if the Board of Trustees is not able to approve it at the meeting December 1
Robin Clement
01:27:16
Is someone here from the Grad Council to discuss their discussion?
Wendy Machalicek (she/her)
01:29:35
FYI, the Surgeon General recommends ABA, the DOE, the US Dept of Edu, OR Health Licensing Board recommends ABA, etc.
Jenna Travers (she/they)
01:29:46
I encourage everyone to look at this research article on ABA because there is a lot of evidence that it does not work: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/334377318_How_Much_Compliance_is_Too_Much_Compliance_Is_Long-Term_ABA_Therapy_Abuse
Anthony Hornof
01:30:15
With all respect, I am a little uncomfortable with the UO Senate deciding the strengths and weaknesses of individual disciplines. Many disciplines on campus are controversial. Concerns regarding limited perspectives in teaching feel more in the purview of the UO Senate.
Nico Larco
01:31:05
I agree with Anthony’s comments. I dont think we should be debating the merits of this proposal in regards to the educational content.
Gina Biancarosa
01:33:03
I agree with Anthony and Nico regarding debating the discipline.
Kelly Sutherland (she, her)

Senator Harbaugh’s suggestion, that is
Gina Biancarosa
01:52:07
Regular reporting of case numbers is a great idea. While not secret and available through public record requests, it would be great for this to be part of our campus' increased focus on transparency and annual reporting.
Kevin Reed
01:52:59
I can add that it IS possible here to report aggregate information on the number of complaints and the results of all formal processes.
Bill Harbaugh
01:53:07
Thanks Nicole, happy to see this happening.
Jay Butler
01:53:18
It would be nice if this information was communicated without having to file a public records request.
